Record Suspension Support Program
Your past should not define your entire future!
A criminal record can create barriers to employment, education and other opportunities long after a sentence has been completed. For eligible individuals, a record suspension may help reduce some of these barriers.
Through its Record Suspension Support Program, Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc. (TAYFFI) provides free information, guidance and practical application support to eligible individuals from Black communities in Saskatchewan.
How We Help
- Eligibility and Intake: Understand the eligibility requirements, applicable waiting periods and next steps.
- Documentation: Receive guidance on obtaining fingerprints, court records, police checks and other required documents.
- Application Preparation: Get help understanding and completing application forms and checking for missing information.
- Connections to Further Support: With your consent, receive referrals to employment, reintegration, legal and other community services.
What Is a Record Suspension?
A record suspension keeps an eligible person’s criminal record separate from other criminal records. It may help reduce barriers to employment and education. However, it does not erase the conviction or guarantee entry into another country.
What Does It Cost?
TAYFFI’s support services are free of charge.
The regular government application fee is $50, although some applications may qualify for a fee exemption. Additional costs may apply for fingerprints, police checks, court documents and mailing.
