Leading Change – Justice Navigation for Black Adults
The Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc. (TAYFFI) is pleased to announce the launch of its Leading Change Justice Navigation for Black Adults, a specialized service providing barrier-free access to legal information and support for Saskatchewan’s Black communities.
Program Overview
The initiative offers comprehensive support tailored to the unique needs of Black individuals in contact with the Canadian justice system. This includes legal information, system navigation, and referrals to appropriate legal and social services.
Target Demographic:
The program is specifically for individuals who identify as Black and are currently in contact with the justice system.
Objectives:
TAYFFI’s Leading Change Justice Navigation Initiative aims to address systemic barriers, anti-Black racism, and the overrepresentation of Black individuals in the criminal justice system. This initiative is a component of TAYFFI’s Black Access to Justice Program focusing on addressing the unique experiences and challenges of Black communities within Canada’s legal framework.
Black individuals across Saskatchewan communities involved with—or susceptible to becoming involved with—the justice system prior to charges will be supported through access to legal information and culturally relevant interventions to help them understand what to expect during the administration of justice.
