9.30am – 4.30pm, Mon – Fri
(occasional evening or weekend hours may be required)
Position Summary
We are seeking a young, vibrant, and success-driven individual to join our dynamic team for the position of Community Outreach Support Worker.
To further TAYFFI’s mandate of empowering youth, particularly those from Black and other equity-deserving groups, the incumbent will advance TAYFFI’s work of creating barrier-free access for key population youth to participate actively in the socioeconomic fabric of society.
This opportunity is a partnership between Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc. and LetsStopAIDS—a national youth-HIV charity focused on empowering youth-led sexual health initiatives and fostering knowledge exchange and leadership.
As a member of TAYFFI’s frontline staff, the Youth Program Support Worker will assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of programs that promote the wellbeing, development, and participation of young people. The role provides direct support to youth, helps facilitate activities, and contributes to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where young people can thrive.
Integral to this role is the incumbent’s familiar knowledge of the social service sector, demonstrated experience in building a public health framework that addresses health inequity, and ability to facilitate peer-to-peer vital, stigma-free, career upskilling support for key population youth.

Eligibility:
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must:
i. Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee/protected person
ii. Be between the ages of 18 and 29 years at the time of application.
iii. Not be currently employed or enrolled in an academic institution.
Key Responsibilities:
i. Assist with the planning, organization, and delivery of youth programs, workshops, recreational activities, and community events.
ii. Build positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.
iii. Assist in developing and delivering tailored youth empowerment initiatives, including career and business ideation, civic engagement, and community leadership programs.
iv. Support youth in developing essential life skills, leadership abilities, teamwork, and self-confidence through meaningful program participation.
v. Monitor participant wellbeing and respond appropriately to concerns, escalating issues to the Youth Program Coordinator or designated supervisor when necessary.
vi. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that promotes the wellbeing and participation of all youth.
vii. Encourage active youth participation and engagement in program activities while fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere.
viii. Assist with participant registration, attendance tracking, and the maintenance of accurate program records.
ix. Support the preparation and organization of program materials, equipment, and activity spaces to ensure successful program delivery.
x. Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, schools, community partners, and other stakeholders under the guidance of the Youth Program Coordinator.
xi. Maintain accurate documentation, incident reports, and records of youth learning events and program activities.
xii. Assist in evaluating program effectiveness by collecting participant feedback and contributing to program reports and continuous improvement initiatives.
xiii. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safeguarding procedures, and all applicable health and safety requirements.
xiv. Perform other duties and responsibilities that support the successful delivery of youth programs as assigned by the Youth Program Coordinator or other designated supervisor.

ii. Demonstrated ability to build trust, rapport, and positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
iii. Sound knowledge of youth development principles, safeguarding practices, and participant wellbeing.
iv. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
v. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
vi. Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond appropriately to challenging situations.
vii. Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse communities and individuals.
viii. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems.
ix. Flexible, reliable, and adaptable, with a positive attitude and a commitment to supporting youth programs.
x. Access to a personal vehicle and possession of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Qualifications
i. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
ii. Previous experience working with children or youth in community, education, recreation, or social service settings is preferred.
iii. Current First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.
iv. Ability to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check, where required.
