About Me:
Dr. Gift has worked in HIV/AIDS care, adolescent reproductive health, disease and injury prevention, and has explored the impact of illness experiences and trauma on mental health. Her clinical and advocacy interests span diverse populations, with a particular focus on youth, women, and marginalized groups, including Indigenous, Black, immigrant, and refugee communities.
Dr. Madojemu is an active community leader, serving on several Boards of Directors and holding leadership roles such as Vice President Black Resident Physicians of Canada; Resident Liaison for the Canadian Nigerian Physicians and Dentists; and previously as President of the Canadian Alliance of Medical Students Against Human Trafficking, President of the Black Medical Students Association of Saskatchewan, and President of the Saskatchewan Coalition for Tobacco Reduction.
Passionate about health advocacy, global mental health, and population/public health, she seeks innovative ways to spark dialogue around mental wellness, reduce stigma, and promote help-seeking. One of her creative approaches involves using theatre and film as vehicles for mental health education, and she contributes to this mission through her involvement with the McMaster CinePsych group.
Dr. Madojemu brings her knowledge, creativity, and experience in psychiatry and community-focused health promotion to TAYFFI. Her passion, leadership, and energy make her an invaluable collaborator — truly, a gift to those she encounters.
