Adrian Aquino

Youth & Student Program Coordinator

Adrian moved to Canada in 2013 from the Philippines and has been proud to call Saskatoon home ever since. He began his engagement with the TAYFFI family in 2019 as a student intern, and transitioned shortly afterwards into the role of volunteer. As an intern and volunteer, Adrian assisted in the development and implementation of several key TAYFFI initiatives, including the I-CAN program for the advancement of marginalized women, and the Inclusivity Community Research program which investigates the experiences of Black youth in Saskatoon.

As a new citizen, he is passionate about exploring the vibrant and diverse cultural landscape of Canada, constantly finding new ways of connecting with people from different walks of life and bridging the various gaps that stand in the way of intercultural dialogue. He believes that dismantling these barriers is the first step in building the foundations of a strong community.

Currently, Adrian is in the process of obtaining his master’s degree in Political Studies from the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in the same subject. His research interests primarily focus on issues of diversity and the politics of identity in the global era. In his capacity now as Youth and Student Coordinator, he is motivated by a desire to shape the youth of Saskatoon into the leaders of today and the pathbreakers of tomorrow.
