In furtherance of its mandate the Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc [TAYFFI] is excited to announce the official inauguration of its bespoke service supporting Black communities titled “Saskatchewan Coalition of Black Canadians.”

Comprising of membership across Saskatchewan Afro-Caribbean communities, the Saskatchewan Coalition of Black Canadians (SCBS) works towards advancing Black excellence and active participation in the socioeconomic fabric of the society. Premised upon the principles of “nothing about us with us,” the SCBS engages with various levels of government on conversations relevant for shaping policies and changing systems particularly as it pertains to civic participation, economic relevance, health equity, heritage preservation, equal treatment, and equal protection of Black People under the law in Canada.

The Saskatchewan Coalition of Black Canadians will strive to create positive and lasting impact on the lives of persons of Black African Ancestry in Saskatchewan while continuing to build and maintain allyship with non-Black communities essential for harmonious living and social cohesion.

Program activities include:

1. Mentorship and leadership support for Black youth
2. Entrepreneurship training and professional network
3. Business ideation and career action planning
4. Black-Canadians Professionals Networking
5. Barrier-free access to justice and civic participation

According to Anthony Olusola, Executive Director of the Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc, “intentional inclusion is not a check box, it means looking around the table and take action to bring others in -not as a token to fulfill all righteousness but as equal partner for knowledge leveraging and decision making. Everyone desires to attain self-actualization and to participate actively in the life of their community, and places of work; it is our collective responsibility to ensure equitable opportunity and quality of life for all.”
