Organizational Profile:

The Truly Alive Youth and Family Foundation Inc [TAYFFI] is a Saskatoon-based organization. TAYFFI’s activities include, but are not limited to the coordination of service and program delivery in Saskatoon and Area for members of the vulnerable populations; the facilitation of information exchange and collaboration with allied organizations; the identification of trends, common challenges, and promising practices in newcomer services in Saskatoon and Area.

Project Description:

The ICARE initiative – Phase II is a 9-month special project designed to engage an inter-generational audience including children, youth and seniors from the Indigenous, Newcomers and Ethno-cultural communities in Saskatoon.

Project Activity:

The project will support the development of children and youth, providing young children with a good start in life and preparing youth for the future vis-a-vis (i) connecting children and youth to unique, life-changing artistic and cultural experiences in their communities (ii) providing children and youth with the opportunity to participate in creative activities regardless of economic barriers they may face (iii) providing youth and young adults with a deeper understanding of their cultural heritage and an appreciation for Canada’s multiple identities (iv) addressing prevalent issues affecting children, youth, and families from the vulnerable populations such as discrimination and racism based on colour, gender, orientation, and race (v) equipping participating children, youth, and families with step-by-step process towards taking action against cultural isolation, discrimination, and bullying

Job Title: Coordinator – ICARE Project

Responsible to: Executive Director, TAYFFI

Location: Saskatoon

Term: Contract (375 hours over the course of 9 months)

Duration: June 2019 to February 2020

Compensation: $7,500.00 (total contract)

Requirements:

  1. University degree in Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, Marketing, or a RelatedDegree
  2. Solid understanding of the non-profit organization, newcomer services, and inter-sectorial engagement processes
  3. Excellent ability to navigate multi-level jurisdictions including federal, provincial, municipal and community Based Organizations (CBO)
  4. 1-2 years’ experience coordinating programs in the areas of social services, education or the humanities
  5. Excellent group facilitation and presentation ability; infographics skill very important
  6. Research, data analysis, and evaluation skills
  7. Excellent writing skills, proficiency in the use of computer and other officeequipment
  8. Knowledge of existing community resources for newcomer populations
  9. Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organizationalskills
  10. Proven accountability, resourcefulness, initiative, flexibility and professionalism
  11. Strong ability to work cooperatively in a team-oriented, cross-cultural setting
